Every Year, the Zion Canyon Rotary Club, the Hurricane Valley Rotary Club, local businesses, and the town of Springdale find those children and families in need of a wonderful holiday experience.  They call it “The Giving Tree”. The families are identified  by school administrators and local religious leaders. The senior citizens in town help make “ornaments” and families are contacted to get a list of their children’s sizes, wants and needs.

April Gates, a successful Realtor and founding member of the Zion Canyon Rotary Club, said about the event: “I give every child a number and make them 2 ornaments, one for clothing, one for gifts.  Volunteers in the community then “adopt’ them. As the volunteers shop for the kids, they bring back their gifts and ornaments and we have a wrapping party. It’s a great day! The towns of Rockville and Springdale also do a toy drive at their town Christmas party and all of those toys go to the children as well. It takes a village!! I used to do something similar in California and we decided to start a similar program here. This was the 4th year and we helped 25 families, 67 kids this year!”
