Real Estate Agent Frequently Asked Questions
Many people wonder how long it takes to go through Real Estate School in Utah. For a Sales Agent, Utah requires 120 total hours, or 60 classes. 96 hours of the coursework is around Principles and Practices and the remaining 24 hours are Utah License Law. We recommend planning 1 – 2 months to go through the coursework at ARTI® Academics in the Utah Real Estate School.
If you’re pursuing a Utah Real Estate Brokers license, a total of 120 hours are also required. 45 for Broker Principles, 45 for Broker Practices, and 30 for Utah Law. This is of course followed by an exam that must be completed at an authorized Pearson Vue testing center.
ERA Brokers Consolidated is a real estate brokerage or in other words has licensed brokers. As a real estate agent, you have to work under a real estate broker. They are to watch over and help with real estate transactions. We have real estate brokers throughout Utah and Nevada.
ERA Brokers Consolidated does market reports every single month so that you can be on top of your real estate career with the most up-to-date information.
Real estate school is 100% Free at ARTI Academics. If you’re considering going to real estate school to get your real estate license, most schools will charge anywhere from $450 to $800 or more. They typically charge this money to cover the cost of facilities, licensed real estate school software, and profit to the company. Not only is ARTI® the most affordable way to earn your license, but it is the highest rated real estate licensing school in the State of Utah.
While the terms Real Estate Broker and Real Estate Agent are often used interchangeably in Utah and Nevada, they are very different. A Real Estate Agent is an individual who has completed Real Estate School, either online or in person. They also must complete certain background checks and be approved by the State governing body. This authorizes them to help buyers and sellers complete real estate transactions under the supervision of a Real Estate Broker. A Real Estate Broker has not only completed the requirements to become an Agent, but must also complete 120 more hours of formal education in addition to work experience. Because they are a Broker, they are eligible to open a Real Estate Brokerage and have Agents (and other Broker’s) affiliate with their organization. In the State of Utah, a Broker can be responsible for up to three real estate offices.
So is being a Broker better than an Agent?
No. What makes someone great in real estate isn’t dependent on that 120 hours of additional seat time or the title next to their name. In fact, many agents are better than their brokers at selling real estate. A great agent is someone that listens to their clients’ needs and helps them achieve their goals! A great Real Estate Brokerage, however, can make any agent, no matter their skill level, shine above their peers by providing superior marketing, technology, education, research, and support.
