Love Modern Farmhouse Style? You’re Certainly Not Alone

By: Sarah Beaumont

It’s a little bit country, it’s a little bit industrial. There’s even a touch of minimalism to it, and people just can’t seem to get enough. Modern Farmhouse style is the design look of the moment. So what exactly is it? Well, if you’ve ever caught an episode of HGTV’s Fixer Upper, there’s your answer. A blend of rustic, cottage-like details and modern sensibilities, the farmhouse look strikes the perfect balance between homey and chic. Which is probably why so many people dig it. The modern farmhouse look of today draws inspiration from the classic farmhouse style that came about in rural America during the mid-19th century. It’s traditional but doesn’t feel stuffy or too grandiose. Antiques have their place but none that are too fragile. Overall, a classic farmhouse space is the kind of place that makes you want to sit down in front of a roaring fire and stay a while.
